Steel sheet slitting – Steel strip supplier in Hungary
Slitting steel sheets is a process in which wide steel (galvanized, cold-rolled, hot-rolled, pickled and oiled) or aluminum sheet coils are cut into narrower slabs of required width by passing them through a so-called slitting machine. These narrower products are then sent to our steel stripping machines for stripping, or to be rolled up, packed up, and sold.
In 2022 and 2023, Szűcs Ferrotrade Metal and Steel Wholesaler Ltd. installed its new high-capacity slitting machines, which enable our manufacturing company in Hungary to supply our customers quickly and flexibly with non-standard steel slabs in custom sizes or, in case of further processing, with custom-cut steel strips.
The advantages of slabbing and slitting steel sheets
Another advantage of steel slitting is that in addition to being customizable, the starting material can be cut to the exact size required, making it both more cost-effective and environmentally friendly by minimizing the amount of waste generated at the end-use.
We can also slit and slab the steel and aluminum coils in two steps during the slab-cutting process, so not only we can produce steel strips of virtually any width, we can also from steel slabs as small as a the size of a business card. With our two slitting lines, we can also process hot-dip galvanized, electro-galvanized (EG), aluzinc, aluminized, coated, cold-rolled, hot-rolled pickled and oiled, as well as painted materials.

The slit steel coils are delivered on pallets (foil-wrapped on request), with dividers, and also come with edge protection and strapped.
Steel sheet cutting: our steel strip selection in Hungary
A steel strip is in fact cut from a roll of metal sheet to a specific specification during the slitting process. The advantage is that it can be tailored more to individual requirements, further reducing costs and the amount of waste generated at the end-use.
